Mutliple Sclerosis: The Ugly Truth

Multiple Sclerosis: The Ugly Truth
By Marc Stecker-Wheelchair Kamikaze—March 7, 2015
(Warning: the following essay contains frank descriptions of the physical ravages that can result from Multiple Sclerosis, and may be disturbing to some readers. Those who are sensitive, or would simply rather not know, should stop reading now. Really.)
For much of the healthy public, the face of MS comes in the form of celebrities who suffer from the disease. At the current time, here in The States the most prominent MS representatives are probably Ann Romney (wife of presidential candidate Mitt Romney), Jack Osbourne, and Montel Williams. Mr. Williams in particular has become a full-time MS activist, bringing welcome publicity to Multiple Sclerosis as he chronicles his struggles to fight the disease. I have nothing but respect for anybody battling this heinous scourge, and I don’t mean to belittle anybody’s misfortune, but I often find myself wishing that the public could see much deeper into the horrors that MS can inflict, beyond the relatively robust Mrs. Romney, the newly diagnosed young Mr. Osbourne, and the charismatic Mr. Williams.
The following snippet of an Associated Press article on Mrs. Romney’s experiences dealing with MS is typical of how the mass media often portrays Multiple Sclerosis:
“The wife of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said Wednesday that her love of horses helped her overcome her fear that Multiple Sclerosis would put her in a wheelchair.”
As frightening as the prospect of being put in a wheelchair may be to the general public, the above quote significantly downplays just how monstrously devastating the effects of Multiple Sclerosis can be. I applaud any publicity that shines light on the disease, and certainly, it takes courage for those in the public eye to speak openly about their illness, but the beast that is MS can do far worse than leave someone reliant on a wheelchair. This public face of MS most often provides only a faint glimmer into the hellish world of those more severely afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis, a reality that can shock even those suffering from lesser ravages of the disease.
As a truly distressing depiction of the dark side of MS, the plight of former Mouseketeer and teenybopper starlet Annette Funicello stands in stark contrast to the sanitized version of the disease that is most familiar to the general public. Mrs. Funicello has been decimated by Multiple Sclerosis, its wicked impact leaving this once vibrant woman — who several decades ago epitomized exuberant youth — trapped in a living nightmare, her body gnarled and fully frozen while her mind presumably remains intact. For those who can bear to watch, Canadian television’s CTV network recently produced a video profile of Annette Funicello’s current condition, and her loving husband’s never-ending struggle to find some treatment to help relieve her suffering (click here for part one, and here for part two). Be forewarned that the content of these videos may scare the living s$!& out of you. Please don’t watch if viewing the worst that MS can do might have deleterious effects on your own ability to deal with the disease.
The past two weeks have not been kind to quite a few of my MS friends. One dear woman, who is amongst the sweetest souls I’ve ever had the pleasure to know, recently lost the ability to swallow, a development that necessitated the surgical implantation of a feeding tube into her abdomen. She will never again experience the simple pleasure of eating. Another friend, an accomplished artist who uses MRI images to make compelling pieces of visual art, informed me via email that she is now for all intents and purposes a quadriplegic, and can no longer use her own hands and fingers to bring her creative visions to realization. Instead, she “choreographs” a helper, providing verbal instructions to an able-bodied person in an attempt to maintain her artistic output. The anguish came through loud and clear in the voice of a big hearted man who has seen the disease rip apart not only his body but family and fortune too, while he haltingly told me that he had lost the ability to hold himself upright in a seated position, and has suddenly been plagued with fecal incontinence.
Through my many years of actively taking part in online Multiple Sclerosis forums, I’ve borne virtual witness to the steady decline and ultimate demise of more patients than I can bear to recall. The pattern has become hauntingly familiar; the slowly dwindling chronicling of ever mounting indignities and disabilities, and then a silence speaking loudly of total incapacity and sometimes even death. Occasionally, a family member will kindly put up a post informing the deceased’s online friends of their passing, but more often than not the person merely vanishes into the ether. I daresay my own online activities have similarly diminished as my disease (which still defies definitive diagnosis) has advanced, hopefully not a harbinger of things to come.
This is the true face of MS, a face little seen by the public at large. Of course, many patients suffer a far milder course of the disease, but a significant number do not. As much good as celebrity MS ambassadors can do, I fear they don’t convey the true depravity of the illness, and may in fact serve to lull the public into a sense of complacency regarding Multiple Sclerosis. Almost always, mention of the condition is accompanied by assurances of astonishing medical breakthroughs, of researchers on the verge of finding a cure, of proclamations that now is the best time in history to be diagnosed with MS. What’s left unsaid is that forms of the disease remain completely untreatable, and the pharmaceutical remedies available to those that are treatable are hugely imperfect, at best. An actual cure remains a distant dream, as the vast majority of research dollars are directed at developing new and supposedly better ways of suppressing the aberrant immune response allegedly responsible for the devastating effects of MS, resulting in drugs that can improve the quality of life of relapsing remitting patients, while quite possibly doing nothing to stem the actual progression of their illness. These drugs do not a whit to cure the disease, even as they reap huge profits for the companies that manufacture them.
The medical research model that has evolved in the United States is quite simply broken, warped by the corrosive influence of blockbuster drugs generating fantastic profits. Over 75% of medical research done in the US is funded by the major pharmaceutical companies, all of which are publicly traded entities. As such, they are mandated by law to be beholden to their stockholders, not to the patients taking their products. The job of a drug company CEO is to constantly expand his company’s bottom line, by endeavoring to create an infinite stream of ever-increasing earnings. Thus, research dollars flow to projects most likely to result in huge profits, and these projects tend to follow the lead of previously successful ventures. Scientific researchers, in need of steady income, are of course drawn to projects that will receive ample funding, and so a dysfunctional cycle has developed, one in which good people simply doing their jobs perpetuate a system of medical research that has failed to cure any major disease in decades. As the stream of government research funds dries up, due to harsh economic times and shifting political philosophies, the situation becomes even more acute. As the saying goes, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Perhaps if the public was privy to the hideous reality of those most severely afflicted with MS, and was made to understand that such cases are not mere outliers, their revulsion would spur an outcry that might shatter the status quo. It’s not as if there are no funds available to fuel the research efforts needed to conquer horrendous illnesses. The US Air Force’s newest jet fighter, the F-22 Raptor, comes in at a cost of approximately $350 million per airplane. The F-22 is a wondrous piece of technology, invisible to radar and able to cruise at supersonic speeds. It was originally designed to fight an adversary that no longer exists, the Soviet Union. The Air Force has 187 of these fighters. Would our nation’s defense be significantly hampered if the Air Force possessed only 184 of them? The roughly billion dollars saved could certainly fund a concerted national research effort that might rid mankind forever of diseases whose cost in human misery is incalculable. It’s simply a matter of priorities, and in the language of World War II GIs, the priorities of our society are FUBAR (F%^&%#d Up Beyond All Recognition).
I’m constantly amazed at the courage, bravery, and fortitude displayed by the MS patients I’ve come to know, whose grit and determination serve to gird my own. If only our national zeitgeist would take its cue from the steadfast heroism of those afflicted with terrible diseases and those who care for and love them, and raise an outcry demanding that our nation flex its immense intellectual and financial muscle to find ways to better human life, rather invent technological marvels intended to destroy it. The generals could still have their high-tech toys, only a wee bit fewer of them. Perhaps if MS and other horrendous diseases were portrayed in their full horror, and not in the sanitized versions commonly depicted by our mass media, a change in priorities might be possible. There is a vast Holocaust happening just beyond the eyes of the public, a Holocaust that will likely continue until that public is forced to look upon the contorted faces of the afflicted, and is made to understand such a fate could very well be their own. As John Donne wrote centuries ago, “Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee…”

Rich & FAMOUS PEOPLE WHO DID NOT FINISH COLLEGE

If the recent recession taught us anything it is that nothing is for certain. One of the most disturbing aspects of the recession was the amount of individuals who found themselves out of work for prolonged periods of time despite the fact that they were college graduates who held a marketable degree. The truth of the matter is that there are a lot of things in addition to a college education that will help you find success in life. There is proof of this in the fact that there are many people, very successful, wealthy people in this world who did not attend or finish college or even attempt online college or an online degree and yet were still able to achieve their life goals. You do not necessarily need a phd degree in order to realize your dreams. Here is a rundown of some of the rich and famous who did not go to college or did not finish their college degree.

''WHEN I FOUND THERE WAS A BUSINESS WHERE I COULD SPEND A FEW HUNDRED BUCKS TO GET STARTED... EAT MY OVERHEAD AND BECOME HEALTHY.. FAIL 90% OF THE TIME..AND BECOME OBSCENELY WEALTHY.. WHAT DO YOU THINK I SAID? I CAN DO THIS!!''

Walt Disney

This king of cartoons, is another super successful person who never received a high school diploma. In fact Disney despised high school so much that he wrote a letter to his high school principal outlining just how much he hated it. Disney’s lack of formal education did not stop the innovative creative from going on to realize his animation dreams.

Mark Zuckerberg

The man who single handedly changed social interaction forever, did not finish college. Zuckerberg, after borrowing money from PayPal founder Pete Thiel, launched the social networking site which quickly took over the world. Not only did Facebook create an entirely new way to interact with the world, but it also provided one of the most sought after advertising venues around. Even Microsoft took notice in 2008 when they paid $243 million dollars for a 1.6% share. The website is believed to be worth about $15 billion dollars.

Steven Spielberg

Probably known as one of the best movie directors of all time, Spielberg dropped out of California State University in hopes of getting into film school, where he was also denied admission. Although he had a rocky start, Spielberg eventually went on to found DreamWorks Movie Studios which has produced some of the biggest grossing movies of all time. He is estimated to be worth $3 billion dollars.

John D. Rockefeller

His very name is synonymous with wealth and success. This oil mogul never even completed high school, but you never could have known it by the clever way he managed his money and his monster business, Standard Oil. The company was so rapidly successful that the United States had to step in and literally break it up so that it did not begin to monopolize the oil industry. Rockefeller may have had humble beginnings, but he is still believed to be one of the richest men in history.

Rachel Ray

Rachel Ray may be one of the most famous chef’s on television today, but you would never guess that she has had no formal culinary training. Ray never attended college or cooking school of any kind. How did she get her start? The chatty chef started her culinary career by teaching cooling classes at Cowen and Lobel. The gourmet market in Albany catered to high end clientele and the classes Ray taught customers how to create delicious meals in thirty minutes or less. Today Ray is can not only cook the bacon but she certainly brings it home, at about the sum of $19 million a year.

Bill Gates

Probably one of the most prolific college dropouts of all time, Bill Gates was for many years one of the richest humans on earth, until, through his philanthropy he knocked himself out of that title by literally giving away money. Gates dropped out of Harvard University to create his partnership with Paul Allen. This historic partnership would later become Microsoft. Although Gates did not graduate from college, he does hold a degree. In 2007 Harvard awarded him an honorary doctorate degree. He is believed to be worth about $40 billion dollars.

Henry Ford

Not only did Henry Ford not go to college, he did not even finish high school! What could have been seen as a huge disadvantage did not seem to faze this innovative genius. Ford went on to become the founder of Ford Motors, invent the assembly line. It has been said that Henry Ford was one of the most influential and innovative individuals of the entire 20th century. Through use of his assembly line, Ford was able to manufacture and sell cars at the lowest prices, while still making the largest profits in the industry because his sales volume continued to climb year after year.

Michael Dell

You may think that perhaps actors and entrepreneurs can make it without a college degree, but if you want to make it in a field like technology you have no choice but to earn your degree. Well someone forgot to tell Michael Dell CEO of Dell computers. Dell dropped out of college at the tender age of nineteen. Before dropping out of college, though, he began his computer company in his dorm room. As of 2009 he was estimated to be worth about $12.3 billion dollars.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry is among the rich and famous who never even attended college. Berry opted rather after high school to move to Chicago and launch herself straight into her Oscar Award winning acting career. Not only has Halle Berry found success in her move roles, however, she is also a spokesperson for Revlon cosmetics.

Mary Kay Ash

Mary Kay Ash is one of the most successful female entrepreneurs that ever spun a tube of lipstick. Founder of the multi-million dollar company, Mary Kay, her name is synonymous with beauty and success. One of the things that helped Mary Kay rocket her cosmetic business into the financial stratosphere was her belief in spreading the success of her company out through her clients. The Mary Kay corporation is built upon the concept of client becomes partners and retailers. Mary Kay never finished her college degree opting rather to get married and then be successful anyway.

Notes from Kev.

Memorizing words is just 2 percent of the process when dealing with a script as an actor... In fact the words in themselves only involve maybe 10-20 percent of the process. You just memorize and you go... there are tons of things involved when bringing your character to life. Really talking, really listening. Did you know that acting is half listening... in other words you not just acting when you are saying your lines its the whole time. You have to breathe and bring life into your character.
I always talk about how the character doesn't act itself you do and just like you it has lived for a while so you have to bring a full life to it. It's not about "showing" the audience what anger is its about truthfully going through the scene moment by moment... Showing is another form of lying and some actors would rather show me by throwing their hands up in the air and saying this is anger!!!!, instead of truly going through that circumstance. Cause its easier and less messy for them. But you know who knows....?
The audience... they know in that special place that feels true human connection and the part that goes on that ride. So stop worrying if your line sounds right because if you are being truthful in that moment and really talking and really listening the rest will fall into place... Now this is just some of the basics of a much bigger world of performance but even the basics I see a lot of mistakes... Big hugs and love, Kevin

A Love Story: Rob and Anna's First Date.

Author Unknown

Like everything in life, farts have a time and place. However, I never realized that in the wrong time and place, flatulence had enough power to alter my course in history. Well, it can if it’s the third date with the man of your dreams. And, if it makes his eyes burn. If God destined us to be together, I was one SBD away from foiling His plans (that’s “Silent But Deadly” for you prudes).

It was about five years ago. I was trying to lose a few pounds so I was staying away from carbs. That’s when I met my husband, Rob. On our first date, he booked the next two. He liked me. I liked him. Things were looking real good.
He picked me up in a Cobra, Mustang and his pathetic attempt to win me over with a car totally worked. I’m not shallow, but since I spent most of my twenties picking men up because I didn’t want my hair to frizz in their non-air conditioned jalopies on 3 wheels and a 15 year old spare, I welcomed his fancy sports car with open arms.
We arrived at the restaurant and Rob was ordering food I hadn’t allowed myself to eat in years. I didn’t want to be “that girl” so I ate, drank, and oh, was I merry. Later we shopped a bit. Rob surprised me by buying an expensive pair of shoes that he caught me eyeing. Was this love?
That’s when it happened. Gas strikes in two different ways – uncontrollable toots or sharp, shooting pains that feel a lot like dying. I thought I was dying. Not to make a scene, I told Rob I suddenly wasn’t feeling well and probably needed to head home.
On the way home in his Cobra, he tried to hold my hand and ask me lots of questions, but I wasn’t having any of it. The pain was so bad it felt like I was being stabbed with a bunch of tiny forks. Then I realized …
My God, help me. I have a horrendous fart on deck. I’m in trouble. Big trouble.
The more I held it in, the more pain would shoot through my stomach and down my legs. I was even having to raise myself off the seat, gripping on to my door and the dashboard.
“Seriously, you need to hurry – I’m in a lot of pain.” I managed to say through gritted teeth.
“Wow, it’s that bad? What’s wrong? Do I need to take you to a hospital?”
How do you tell a man you just started dating that the reason you’re writhing in pain is because you have to fart?
Well, you can either tell him, or like me, let the fart speak for itself.
People, hear me. There was nothing I could do. As impressive as I am with sphincter control, this was out of my hands. Slowly, it eeked out. The more I tried to stop it, the more it forced its way through the door. However, to my pleasant surprise, there was no sound. I sat silently, sweat accumulating above my upper lip. OK, maybe I got away with it. Maybe I’m home free. Then it hit me. Not an idea, a cloud. A horrific, fart cloud. Not in a, “am I smelling something?” sort of way. More like a “is something rotting in your trunk and am I in h*ll?” sort of way.
Suddenly, I panicked. “Roll down the windows!” I screamed (yes, I literally screamed it like I was in a horror movie).
“What? Why?” Rob asked, starting to freak out because I was freaking out.
“I can’t roll down the windows, unlock it! UNLOCK IT!”
“What’s going on?” Rob yells back to me, “Why are you …” then it hit him. I could see it in his eyes. Was it surprise? Horror? Water started to accumulate at the base of his eyelids, “Oh my God, I CAN TASTE IT!” he screamed.
“Roll down the windows!” As I screamed, the toots started to flood out uncontrollably. I scratched and clawed at the window like I was being kidnapped. Rob, unable to see either by fart cloud or panic, kept turning on the windshield wipers instead of unlocking the window.
It was chaos. We were acting like we were under siege by gun fire. We were under siege alright, just not by gun fire.
Finally he was able to hit the right control and he rolled down our windows. We both gulped in fresh air. I was horrified, yet happy to be alive, then remembered I just farted on the man of dreams, then sorta wished I was dead.
We sat silently for the rest of the way home. Although the shooting pains had subsided, I now desperately needed to use the bathroom, in an urgent, explosive kind of way.
He pulled up to my apartment and before he could come to a stop I had already jumped out, “Ok, thanks for dinner, sorry about the fart, love the shoes!” and ran in to my apartment like I was running from the cops.
I burst through my door and ran straight for the bathroom, where I was finally able to unleash and make noises that no one should ever, EVER, hear coming from another person.
Then I heard it. Rob’s voice. Right. Outside. My. Bathroom. Door.
“Anna? You left your shoes in my car and your front door was open. Where do you want me to put them?”
“Get away from the door!” I scream like Reagan from The Exorcist.
“Ok, I’m sorry. Are you okay?”
*toot* *toot* *splatter* *ungodly noise*
“I’m fine, Rob – just leave the shoes there. I’ll call you later okay?”
“Okay, are you sure you’re …”
“I’m fine! Get away from the door!”
This man! I mean, I love him, but take a freakin’ hint!
Finally, I heard the front door shut, and the Cobra engine zoom away. I thought that was the last I’d hear from him. I didn’t think it was possible to ever see a man again after he screams he can taste your fart after only knowing you for 48 hours.

But, to my surprise, I did. A couple days later, actually. Now we’re married and he’s lying on the couch while I type this … “It was your rack that saved you,” he just lovingly reminded me.

RECIPE Abernethy Biscuits

ABERNETHY BISCUITS: which are a cross between an 'all butter' and a shortcake biscuit, are famously made in Edinburgh by Simmers (Estd 1888) and are named after their Scottish inventor Dr John Abernethy. Abernethy (Scottish Gaelic: Obar Neithich) is a village in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, situated 8 mi (13 km) south-east of Perth.. The town takes its name from the celtic word 'Aber' and 'Nethy' which is the name of the river.
Alternative Abernethy Biscuits recipe:
Ingredients:
5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon zest
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cups shortening
3 eggs
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons caraway seed
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease baking sheets or line them with parchment paper
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In another bowl, beat the eggs, milk, seeds and lemon zest until blended well. Add to the dry ingredients and blend until smooth. If the dough seems a bit stiff, add extra milk, one tablespoon at a time.
On a floured surface, roll dough out 1/4 inch thick and cut using a 2-inch round cutter. Place cookies 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheet.
Bake in preheated oven until edges are lightly browned, 7 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

A few weeks ago I wrote an article From the White House to the Big House: 25 Impeachable Crimes and Counting that detailed 25 illegal acts committed by President Obama and his Democrat cohorts in Washington. It showed a President and political party willing to break the law at will in order to accomplish their political aims. Thanks to reader contributions and conservative writers around the country, here are 25 more for your consideration.
Whether or not any of these troubling examples will lead to Obama’s impeachment and/or imprisonment, only time will tell. Regardless, taken together they paint a picture of an out of control President who lacks basic American values and has little to no respect for the rule of law.

25 More Impeachable Crimes

  1. Obama’s term as Board Chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge in the mid-1990s where he and his colleague, unrepentant terrorist William Ayers, misused over $300 million in private donations meant to improve the education of minorities. Instead of spending the money on traditional learning programs, Obama and Ayers directed the funds to local community activists who wasted it on trying to “radicalize” the students. An official review of the program found that it was a complete and utter failure.
  2. As an Illinois State Senator, Obama directed tens of millions in state money to slumlords Valerie Jarrett and Tony Rezko meant to provide for housing for low income, minority tenants in return for political donations. Due to shoddy construction and nonexistent maintenance, the majority of the units, after less than 10 years of use, have been rendered uninhabitable.
  3. Michelle Obama’s politically connected $316,000 VP of Community Affairs job at University of Chicago Hospitals while her husband was serving as US Senator. She was responsible for the design of an illegal “patient dumping” scheme that prevents local African Americans from using the emergency room at one of the nation’s finest hospitals and instead redirects them to community healthcare centers where they often receive substandard and inadequate treatment. The high paying position was eliminated soon after Mrs. Obama’s departure from the university.
  4. Millions in illegal contributions accepted by the Obama campaign during his presidential run. Credit card filters designed to screen out foreign money and domestic donors who had maxed out their legally allowable limits, as required by US law, were intentionally switched off.
  5. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s ongoing effort to create international small arms accords that will subvert the Second Amendment rights of US citizens.
  6. The Russian-American START treaty signed by Obama in April 2010 that has no chance of making it through Congress unless passed during the lame duck session. Not only does the treaty hamstring US missile defense development and make it difficult to modernize our rapidly aging nuclear weapons arsenal, it represents unilateral disarmament by the US in return for nothing more than Russian “good will”.
  7. Moving control of the Census Bureau from the Commerce Department directly into the White House where it is managed by Chief of Staff Rham Emmanuel.
  8. Providing de facto amnesty to illegal immigrants by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton, who has prohibited ICE officers from enforcing US immigration laws outside the institutional setting. The ICE union has subsequently taken the unprecedented step of voting “no confidence” in Morton’s leadership.
  9. Attorney General Erik Holder’s failure to sue sanctuary cities for violating US immigration law, while at the same time proceeding with a lawsuit against the State of Arizona for enforcing US immigration law.
  10. Failure by Obama to treat the takeover of sovereign land in Arizona by the Mexican drug cartel as an Act of War.
  11. Refusal by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Administrator David L. Strickland to release results from an internal investigation into the Toyota sudden acceleration problem that contains findings favorable to the foreign automaker.
  12. Ongoing efforts by FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski to gain control over the internet in opposition to a judge’s ruling and Congress’s will, by reclassifying internet companies as telecommunication providers thus making them subject to FCC regulation.
  13. Obama and his environmentalist allies preventing US industries from taking advantage of our rich natural resources including oil, coal, uranium and timber.
  14. Obama’s month long stint as UN Security Council Chair in 2009, the first ever by a sitting U.S. President. Not only did this action give credibility to an international organization ruled by tyrants, it also called into question potential dual loyalties by our President.
  15. The Obama National Security Strategy released in May that allows for the targeted assassination of US citizens including “homegrown terrorists” without due process. It has also been described by the Kremlin, which knows quite a lot about these kinds of things, as a “new law put forth by President Obama capable of seeing up to 500,000 American citizens jailed for the crime of opposing their government.”
  16. Obama executive order signed in Dec. 2009 that allows Interpol to operate in US territory with impunity and without oversight by Congress, the courts, FBI or local law enforcement.
  17. Deployment of 1,200 National Guard troops to border states where they will not, under any circumstances, be used to stop the flow of illegal aliens or drug traffickers.
  18. A foreign policy that can be best described as the turning away of our allies, in particular Great Britain, Israel, Honduras, Poland, Columbia, and Taiwan, and the embracement of our enemies.
  19. The State Department using $23 million in taxpayer money to help transform Kenya into a constitutionally communist nation where the freedom of speech is limited and private property rights are subservient to “social justice”. In addition, the recently adopted Kenyan constitution allows for the practice of Sharia Law in some regions, ensuring women will not be guaranteed basic human rights.
  20. Obama’s refusal to hold press conferences and answer difficult questions as expected of a US President. Never in the modern age has there been a President so unwilling to answer to the American people for his actions. Considering the public’s growing anger towards his progressive policies, it is doubtful Obama will ever hold another press conference again.
  21. The $26 billion bailout of the teacher’s unions that Obama recently signed into law. Not only was the money taken from food stamp programs for poor Americans in order to fund Democrat special interests, a portion will be skimmed off the top as union dues and funneled to Democrat political campaigns this fall.
  22. Obama’s involvement with Governor Rod Blagojevich’s attempt to sell his old Illinois Senate seat. Even if Obama didn’t try to purchase the position for his chosen replacement, slumlord Valerie Jarrett, at the very least he had to know the seat was for sale.
  23. Department of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar’s plans to take control of millions of acres of public and private land in Western states by designating them national monuments. These efforts are being carried out in secret and without input from Congress, state and local officials and current land owners.
  24. Obama’s use of taxpayer money to pay for Democrat propaganda including $15 million for The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act road signs and $18 million for the perpetually misleading recovery.gov website.
  25. The lasting damage Obama has done to the Jewish people. In his less than two years in office, there has been an outpouring of hatred towards the Jews the likes of which I thought I would never live to see. From Helen Thomas telling the Jews to “get the hell out of Palestine” to heavily armed, terrorist flotillas destined for the Gaza Strip described as “peaceful” by the western press. From throwing stones at little old ladies leaving synagogue in Sweden to the thousands of Jewish families fleeing Muslim persecution in France, a sea change in world public opinion against the Jewish people has been accomplished during Obama’s term. Because of his refusal to speak out against virulent anti-Semitism being pushed by left-wing politicians and Islamists around the world, the harm to the Jewish people will surely outlive his presidency and could have terrible, unforeseen consequences.

Original List of 25 Impeachable Offences

  1. Convicted felon and Chicago real estate developer Tony Rezko’s purchase of land adjacent to Obama’s house in Hyde Park, IL. In 2006, Rezko sold a 10 foot strip of his property to Obama for $104,500, rendering the remainder of Rezko’s $625,000 investment too small to be developed and, for all intents and purposes, worthless.
  2. The provision of Obama campaign donor lists to ACORN in 2007 and 2008, more complete than the ones he gave to the FEC. ACORN used the lists to raise money for Obama’s election from donors who had already maxed out their legally allowable contributions.
  3. Widespread voter fraud including voter intimidation, ballot stuffing, falsified documents, and threats of violence against Hillary Clinton supporters committed by the Obama campaign and ACORN during the 2008 Democrat primary election. For more information see my CFP article How Obama Used an Army of Thugs to Steal the 2008 Democratic Party Nomination.
  4. Obama’s refusal to release his long form birth certificate which would show conclusively that he is a dual citizen and therefore not constitutionally eligible to serve as President. Obama’s college records, which have also not been released, would also contain information regarding his dual citizenship status.
  5. Protecting union interests over those of GM and Chrysler bond holders during bankruptcy proceedings, forcing investors to accept millions of dollars in losses in direct violation of bankruptcy laws, money to which they were legally entitled.
  6. Preferential treatment given to minority and women owned car dealerships by Obama administration officials as part of the auto industry bailout program and the forced closing of a disproportionate number of dealerships located in rural areas that did not vote for Obama.
  7. Unsubstantiated firing of Corporation for National and Community Service Inspector General Gerald Walpin for exposing Sacramento Mayor and Obama supporter Kevin Johnson’s misuse of an $850,000 AmeriCorps grant.
  8. Purchase of Congressional support for the passage of Obama’s healthcare bill including the “Cornhusker Kickback”, “Louisiana Purchase” and having the Department of Interior increase water allocations to the Central Valley of California to secure the votes of Democrat Reps. Dennis Cardoza and Jim Costa.
  9. Lying to the American people by promising they could keep their healthcare coverage if they wanted to, when in reality tens of millions will be forced out of their current plans.
  10. Attempted bribery of Rep. Joe Sestak with job offers to get him to drop out of the Senate primary race against Sen. Arlen Specter.
  11. Directing the EPA to unilaterally set carbon emission standards, thus bypassing Congress which opposes Obama’s energy reform bill. For more information see my CFP article Forget Cap and Trade: EPA Regulation of CO2 Emissions Will Begin in 10 Months.
  12. The Obama administration’s statement that a panel of experts had agreed with their plan for a 6 month Gulf Coast drilling moratorium, when in actuality none of them had supported the measure.
  13. Bullying BP to set up a $20 billion slush fund to compensate Gulf Coast businesses and residents affected by the oil spill, to be administered by an Obama political appointee without any judicial or congressional oversight.
  14. Implementing a third oil-drilling moratorium after the first two were thrown out of court, creating a de facto Gulf Coast offshore drilling ban in opposition to two judges’ rulings.
  15. Establishment of a commission to investigate the Gulf Coast oil spill that contains not one oil industry expert and whose transparent purpose is to push a partisan political agenda rather than investigate the cause of the disaster.
  16. Obama’s policy of intentionally not securing our nation’s borders, in opposition to Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution which calls for the President to protect states from foreign invasion, in an attempt to blackmail Republican support for comprehensive immigration reform. In essence, Obama is holding border states and residents politically hostage during a time they are being overrun by a narco-paramilitary invasion.
  17. Department of Justice illegal race based policies regarding voter fraud as exposed by former Justice attorney J. Christian Adams. This includes the dropping of voter intimidation charges against 2 Black Panthers brandishing weapons in front of a voting location in Philadelphia and the stated intention by political appointees to ignore voter crimes committed by African Americans, Latinos and other minorities.
  18. Department of Justice purposefully allowing some states to continue their disenfranchisement of military personnel serving overseas in direct opposition to the 2009 Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act, which was established in response to the more than 17,000 military votes that were not counted in the 2008 election because ballots had arrived after the deadline.
  19. Recess appointment of Donald Berwick as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services without even a token attempt to put him through the Congressional nomination process, signaling that Congress’s constitutional obligation to vet presidential appointees means nothing to Obama. The same can be said of the 30+ Obama administration czars.
  20. Spending $23 million of taxpayer money through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to support a constitutional referendum in Kenya in spite of the Siljander Amendment, which makes it illegal for the U.S. to lobby for abortion in other countries. The Kenyan referendum was partially written by Planned Parenthood and is designed to legalize abortion in that nation.
  21. The participation of the Obama administration in the firing of Sherry Sherrod from the USDA without due process because of publicized out of context remarks she made at a NAACP meeting in March 2010.
  22. The White House sham investigation of BP’s involvement in the release of the mass murdering Lockerbie bomber from prison. The Obama administration not only knew beforehand of the Scottish government’s plan to set Abdel Baset al-Megrahi free on “compassionate” grounds, they even sent a letter to Scottish authorities stating their preference for his remaining in Scotland over his transfer to a Libyan prison.
  23. The canceling of 77 properly filed oil field development contracts approved by the Bush administration by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, preventing the extraction of up to 3 trillion gallons of oil buried under Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and North Dakota, more than enough to end our dependence on foreign oil and supply the U.S. with its energy needs for hundreds of years at current consumption rates.
  24. Investigations by the Department of Homeland Security to determine the political affiliation of people making Freedom of Information Act requests and the subsequent delay and even altogether ignoring of requests made by Republican affiliated individuals.
  25. The hardest to prosecute in court, but worst crime of all that Obama has perpetrated against the American people is the economic tyranny his socialist policies have wrecked upon our nation. While Obama has been living the life of a king including frequent 5 star vacations, dozens of concerts at the White House and endless rounds of golf, all paid for by taxpayer money—the increased transportation and security costs alone are in the millions of dollars—he has called for the rest of us to endure economic sacrifice. The annual trillion dollar deficits and borrowing of 41 cents of every dollar of federal spending by Obama is leading to unsustainable and potentially catastrophic national debt.
